We are a group of experienced professionals in the hospitality industry resident in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Dallas and New York. Our partners are Country Nationals from the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, China and Singapore who have worked in all phases of QSR, casual dining and fine dining environments. We have strong familiarity with the Asia Pacific and USA markets and have represented or worked with such leading food service companies as Hard Rock Cafe, Outback Steakhouse, KFC, Pizza Hut, Bubba Gump, Il Mullino, Wolfgang's Steakhouse, Brinker International, California Pizza Kitchen, Tony Roma's, UWINK, Inakaya, and many others.
We provide full market entry support services to leading US and Asian companies in overseas markets. Here are a few examples of our consulting projects.
- A leading US casual dining chain is just beginning to explore international business expansion. We are providing an Asia Pacific Business Plan which addresses all areas of market entry such as financial modeling by country, prioritizing company owned and franchise markets, identifying store development potential by country, and recommending necessary refinements to the existing concept to broaden customer appeal. This plan included an extensive analysis of the China opportunity.
- A large Korean fast food chain with 100 stores in China was not satisfied with their performance to date. We performed an audit of the current business and made recommendations to the Senior Management that led to extensive changes to the concept itself and the future store development strategy. Changes involved new store designs, seatings, and menu offerings.
- A well known European Department Store with a highly successful Food Hall concept was interested in expanding their franchise to Japan. We visited with the Headquarters Senior Management and Operations team to understand the basic underlying financial and operating model to allow us to recreate the concept in Tokyo. This two months project resulted in a full understanding of the challenges and likely financial implications of opening a similar concept in Japan.
- A 500 year old Japanese confectionary chain seeking opportunities outside its home market is now looking to expand its retail and manufacturing activities to Greater China. We are working closely with their Senior Management to confirm the right business models for market entry to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai. A key task is finding the right balance between their age old recipes and the Chinese palate.
- One of the largest Private Equity firms in Tokyo is seeking to create greater value for several of their food and beverage portfolio companies. We are partnering with them to develop long term overseas expansion opportunities for several of their restaurant operating companies while reducing the dependence on the Japanese market.
We currently work with successful international food service retailers and private equity firms in Japan, Korea, the UK and USA on a confidential basis. All our services are retainer based.
